General Membership Meeting Minutes

11/15/08

 

 

General Membership Meeting called to order by President Roberts at 12:02pm. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Brother George Roman. There was a roll call of officers.

 

Excused Absent: Cory L. Purifoy, Al Garcia, Leonard Lara

 

Unexcused Absent:

 

         1.   General Membership Meeting Minutes Reviewed.  Motion made by L. Daniel and seconded by Cathy Robbins to accept the minutes. (Motion passed)
       
         2.   Financial Report Reviewed.  Motion made by Cathy Robbins and seconded by Linda Daniel to accept the Financial Report. (Motion passed)
 
3.   Christmas party will be held Dec. 14th. Motion was made not to exceed $7000.00 for the local’s Christmas party. Motion made by Roy Vasquez and seconded by Jesse Benavidez. The location will be at 500 N. Railroad St., Pflugerville, Texas. (Motion passed)
 
4.   Multi-Craft seminar to be held in Bossier City, LA., Feb. 26-28.  Motion made by Linda Daniel and seconded by George Roman to send up to 8 members at the discretion of the President. Motion tabled until next meeting when a $ amount will be included with the motion.
 

         5.   A motion was made by Linda Daniel and seconded by Jesse Benavidez to have 2 additional door prizes of $50.00 each for those members present at the Dec. meeting. Dec. 20th General Membership meeting. (Motion passed)

 

6.   President Roberts discussed the re-running of the NBA race and the duplicate ballots sent out encouraging everyone to vote.  He also advises that if you received 2 ballots, to submit them both.

 

7.   Madame Vice President Linda Daniel discussed the Christmas Donut Day to be held on Dec. 18-19, from 3pm – 3pm. (Thurs-Fri)

 

 

8.  President Roberts discussed the “lay-off” status of employees with less than 6 years and stated that under our current contract which is valid thru 2010, employees are protected.

 

9.   There was a discussion and questions about the closing of Tour 2 operations at the GMF and the “Meet and Greet” strategy.  President Roberts explained that those employees on Tour 2 that are affected would become unassigned regulars.  In regards to the “Meet and Greet” strategy, President Roberts stated it is within management’s power to do so. However, if discipline is mentioned at all, contact a union steward immediately.

 

10. There was a discussion about “breaking up of leave days” when an employee calls in. President Roberts recommended that if an employee disagrees with the way management handles a leave request, it is the responsibility of the employee affected to re-submit a new 3971 bearing the correct information.

 

11. There was a discussion about the APPS mail.

President Roberts announced that 5 additional turkeys will be added to the count for the December turkey giveaway.
